- the beach was absolutely gorgeous yesterday morning and Liam was absolutely beside himself with joy. He wanted to play in the water, in the sand, in the waves, under the pier, everywhere. The sand wasn't hot yet, but the water wasn't cold and it was so good. Toby loved it too.

- Adam got accepted into university! Spent ages last night agnonising over his Personal Statement so it didn't sound cheesy then just uploaded it, and today boom! Accepted!

- Hi Australian Government, Thank you for Offering Everyone Deferred Loans for University, My Family Appreciates It Lots.

- I chopped off all my hair! My SIL's brother quit his hairdressing job but was still doing it on the side, so I was able to just go to his house, plop the kids down with some toys and get it cut :) Cheap! No babysitters required! My hair was well past my boobs most of the way down my back, can you believe!! Oh it feels amazing now.

- I watched Frozen! I loved it! I cried buckets! I found I didn't care too much about all the problematic stuff that was discussed before the movie was released. The songs were perfect, the voice acting was perfect, I have a crush on Jonathan Groff's voice, who knew (I did). I'm really loving this trend of having the voice actors do the songs too.

- Liam managed to do a 50 piece puzzle by himself while I was in Toby's room putting him down for a nap. I'm learning my lesson, than sometimes Liam doesn't need to be helped, that I should step back and let him figure things out on his own.

The haircut looks great! And congrats to Adam on getting accepted.

We have deferred loans here, too, that you don't have to start paying back until you're out of school, but since tuition has gotten so high in recent years and good jobs have gotten much harder to find, it can be a pretty nasty mess for people to face when they graduate. I'm sure tuition is much cheaper in Australia.

I don't know if tuition is much cheaper, but we have Commonwealth Supported Places for starters, which means that some places (most?) in a particular course are subsidised. On top of that we have the deferred loans from the government that you don't have to pay back until you hit a certain yearly income (at the moment it's 51k) which once you hit that, the loan gets taken out of your paycheck bit by bit like regular tax.

SO, if you don't ever get a job or whatever, you don't have to pay it back.

Haha, 51K does sound like a lot. XD Yeah, ours definitely don't work like that. If you graduate and then go on for more schooling, the loans will be deferred until you finish that, and I believe you can try to get it deferred some more if you're not in school but are unemployed or something, but nothing like what you're talking about.

And I think pretty much everywhere in the world tuition is much cheaper than the US. When I was in college, I went to a state school (cheaper than private schools) and tuition was much lower than it is today (it has risen really steeply) and it was about $3900 a year, which is on the extremely cheap end. Many people pay more like $39,000 a year or more.

Yeah I think the subsidised fees come to 5k a year for things like education and nursing and 10k a year for medicine and law.

It's 20k+ a year for those courses if you're not subsidised.

51k sounds like a lot, but we were getting 'low income' government benefits when Adam was earning 41k. Like, that was just enough for us.

I also know that 51k sound like a lot, but that's the basic pay for a teacher.
