I thought maybe it would be nice to actually get back into doing LJ. I can't promise I'll be entertaining, but I want to be here again.
Resolutions wise - I've gone running every second day since I started my resolutions, so that's three times. I don't feel itchy all over anymore when I do it (I figure that's my capillaries not getting used to exercise) but I'm a long way off being fit. Anyway, trying to build habits here, and Adam's pretty good at just shoving me out the door. Plus, it's 30 min of not having to deal with the kids!
We massively overspent over Christmas, so I'm back on a be-good budget. Basically that means I can't buy new clothes or toys etc for a while, which is no big deal because I bought tons of them for Christmas.
I haven't done the dishes every day but Adam's done them the days I haven't, so that's going well. I still fail at putting away laundry and haven't worked out when I should do that yet - like, if I fold them at night when the kids are in bed, then they just sit in the lounge because I can't put them away. I can't fold them when Toby is awake because he's a class A Wrecker of Things.
Speaking of which, he just climbed into the bath. While Liam was in it. He climbed up on a step then climbed into the bath. Liam was not a climber and Toby is everything Liam wasn't. He's willfully disobedient, but social and very into sports etc. Could not give a damn about my phone or the computer. Liam is computer literate already.
I wanted to go to the Enchanted Maze garden today - I bemoan living where I am a lot, because it's so far away from the city. Part of my 2014 is to be more positive about things, so I figured I would appreciate the things I have around me - I live in a place where everyone in the city takes day trips to visit! Adam doesn't really like doing things solely for the kids. His ideas of outings involve taking the kids to things he likes to do, like the football etc. Anyway, finally convinced him to go to the Enchanted Maze, but when we got there it was PACKED. Adam also doesn't like crowds, so I was okay with us just having a picnic instead. Enchanted Maze is on top of Arthur's Seat, which is a mountain/hill overlooking the bay, so it was really nice. They used to have a chairlift going all the way down the mountain that I went on every year as a kid, (and it terrified me while thrilling me) but it got taken down because it was dangerous.
There used to be a girl at my school who lived in Arthur's Seat, so she would take the chairlift, the bus then the train to school every day. It took her two hours!!!
We also went to Main Street, Mornington for icecream (again, it was busy. Adam actually works on Main Street, and he was just.. angry at the crowds, he's so different to me I don't know how we co exist, sometimes it drives me batty) and went to the park on the beach and it was just a lovely day and I was so happy and Adam just.. wanted to go home. He wasn't grumpy or anything, but I could tell that this wasn't ****FUN**** for him, that he would much prefer to be eating a picnic in our backyard and playing on the swings and slide.. in our backyard and eating icecream from our freezer. He really just likes being home. I can't wait to leave the house.
I made a satay noodle stirfry today which was a hit, so go me.
I managed to watch the first 20 minutes of Sherlock this morning before I was interrupted. I had forgotten what a grade A egotistical dick BBC Sherlock was and it actually made it really hard to watch. Like, I guess fanfic had tempered him somewhat, and Elementary Sherlock is so lovely sometimes. I hope he redeems himself the rest of the episode.
