Turns out that I can barely juggle this Being a Mum to Two Children AND Being a Person, if everything goes to plan. Like, if Toby sleeps at the times he's supposed to and Liam doesn't give up naps, or if they don't get sick, or if Adam doesn't have a bad day at work and can't move himself from the couch in the evenings.

If everything doesn't go to plan, then the whole thing topples over and things just pile up and I'm drowning under a mountain of chores again. This weekend, I told Adam that I wasn't going to do any chores so that we could go out and have a nice day trip like a family because we never ever go out anywhere. We had a lovely time, but I still haven't caught up on any of the chores :(

Toby has been sniffly and waking up every hour at night because he can't breathe for a week now and I'm zombie-fied. Liam's got Hand Foot and Mouth, so today he was supposed to go to daycare and it was supposed to be my day to catch up on everything but now nope.

It's funny, I try and cultivate some semblance of 'yeah, being a mum is AWESOME and I am AWESOME at it' on Facebook - like some curated version of my life 'here are all the good bits!' then I come on here and just vomit out my failures.

I've started to use instagram - I'm here, if you want to friend me: http://instagram.com/tinadearing

I think that is one of the failings of Facebook. no one is honest. It's very show-offy. I kind of miss Live Journal for that. That made me feel like 'oh everyone else has weird insecurities too'. Facebook is more like 'oh, everyone else has it ALLLLL figured out".

Sorry to hear it's all a bit crazy :( Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong though. Just sounds like Life is being a bit of a pain. Not much you can do about illness :(

Sometimes I don't think of FB as showoffy so much as I think people like to be positive? Like, no one wants to be that person that goes on FB and complains all the time. It's a bit like all the photos are so wonderful because people only tend to take lots of photos when they go on holiday or go to parties so it looks like everyone has a great life, but really no one's taking a photo of their messy house when they come back from holiday!

I'm sorry things are stressy right now, of course everyone would get sick at the same time right? I hope they're both feeling better soon though so you can catch up on things. I'm obviously not a mom so I don't have any brilliant advice to give, but I'm pretty sure everyone feels like a lot overwhelmed a lot of the time and that's what we're here for, no need to pretend to be happy and perfect all the time <3

Also, followed you on instagram, your pictures are ADORABLE

YAY INSTAGRAM FRIEND :D

I don't even know how you make Instagram friends otherwise, tbh.

yeah I don't think you're really supposed to make friends on instagram, more like add people you already know

I can totally relate. Brody had a tummy ache the other night. He had child care the next day - my one "off" day to catch up etc - and I was anxious about him not being able to go to child care if he was still sick in the morning. I should have been anxious about my child being sick...
