Jul. 19th, 2011 10:45 pmLiam and I went to the park for a picnic and to chase/feed the ducks with Chloe (my SIL) and James.
It was cold, but lovely and Liam didn't burst into tears everytime James came near him which is progress. James even accidentally knocked Liam over trying to grab a mini-quiche, but Liam was all 'I'm cool, lookit me, I'm eating real food'. I hope they will be friends. James is only 4 months older but he always seems so much bigger and more developed - I wonder when they'll be equals? Cousin Hamish is only 4 months younger than Liam and he's still a baby that doesn't do anything at all.
Liam's 8 months on Thursday. Can he have sandwiches yet? I'm running out of food to give him and I'm a bit worried about the bread becoming a soggy balled up choking hazard. James had all these cute sandwich shapes to eat and Liam kept wanting them :)
Got some Bill and Cheryl gossip out of Chloe - turns out I was a bit biased in my condemnation of Cheryl (surprise) and that they both had a big hand in the destruction of their relationship. NOTE: I TALK ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S RELATIONSHIP HERE, AND WHILE IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS, I THINK I NEED TO MAKE UP FOR MY TRASHING OF CHERYL YESTERDAY.
From what it sounds like, they'd never been on the same page when it comes to important things like money. It's sad, but just because you're really good friends with someone, have a great sexual relationship and even love them, doesn't mean a relationship can work.
I'd always been a bit judgmental of the fact that Cheryl never had her own money and never really contributed to any of the bills but it turns out that (according to Chloe, who isn't a Cheryl fan either) that Bill had been using it as a one up in their power struggle. She was constantly having to beg him for money. That's so shit - I'd hate to be in a relationship like that. Cheryl did all of the housework - their house was spick and span.
They'd always been competitive - in a sort of immature way - like Cheryl banned anyone from putting up photos of her Hen's Night up on Facebook until Bill's Buck's Party was over, just to make sure that her party was just as big and wild and fun as his.
Apparently they had worked everything out prior to getting married and Bill was desperate for a baby and I think that's added to the strain on their relationship. Cheryl wanted to be pregnant by now too, or not until after some wedding because she wanted to be able to drink at said wedding. Bill was like 'When you have a kid you can't be getting blind drunk all the time, you gotta grow up' and Cheryl was 'Well, you're not going to stop drinking, why should I? That's not fair.' Bill: 'Yeah, but I don't have to.' Oh that makes me so mad. If drinking is a huge part of your lifestyle, I think you really should slow it down a bit to support your wife. Not just dump it all on her! Especially when you're the one pressuring her to have a baby before she truly wants one!
And now Cheryl got her inheritance and Bill didn't have anything to hold over her anymore. She's blown $70,000 of it already on cars, laser eye surgery, drinking every night and a fuckton of clothes and refuses to put the other $100,000 on the house. So Bill's attacking her the only way left - by accusing her of cheating. And as much as I dislike Cheryl? She has a strong moral code and I don't believe she'd ever cheat. She might make out with a guy in front of Bill to piss him off, but nothing behind his back.
So I think it's very very good that it's ended. Bill SMS'ed a makeup text to Cheryl but she's not having a bar of it. She even split up their dogs which is heartbreaking.
Adam's worried that Bill won't be able to keep his house. I don't know anything about divorce rules etc, but if she's contributed nothing and the house is in his name, and she has her own $100,000 in her name, plus a shiny new car surely that makes them even?
Anyway, I have been rather gossipy on my LJ lately. It's not really like me at all.
Look, here's a photo of Liam enjoying going to the supermarket.
