World News
It's amazing how little world news I pay attention to on weekends because I'm not at my computer procrastinating my work. Covid numbers are high again, but I believe Victoria is now at 80% first dose vaccinated, so I'm going to assume we're going to get to at least 80% double dosed fairly soon. That's great news. I checked the US numbers because they were really quick off the blocks and they're just over 52% or something? That's crazy.
Fam News
My mum's tried to make a pandan chiffon for the fourth time now, and it's hilarious how every single time she bakes she does something *different* incorrectly? It never works out for her. I've watched my mum in the kitchen and she always has six things on the go and it makes me wonder if maybe *she* has ADHD. Probably unlikely though, I've never known her to have executive dysfunction and she always finishes what she starts.
Life News
The house is much easier to clean now that there's less reno tools in it and as we get closer to finished. There's still a fuck ton to be done but it's hard to explain to someone how bad it was to start with.
I'm still enjoying Beat Saber though I can't see how I can beat an Expert level without a lot of practice and I'm not sure how fun that would be for me, but we'll see.
Fandom News
I've caught up somewhat on Street Dance of China. A lot of the propaganda still leaves a bad taste in my mouth no matter how much I tell myself I'm just going to watch for fun. I really enjoyed the courting episode as per normal, having the captains practically confess their love via letters and gifts was cute and would have totally overwhelmed me.
I'm currently reading Waiting For Spring by ThievingHippo - it's the baseball wangxian and the author's notes say "no baseball knowledge required to read this!" and it's true none of the plot seems to hang on baseball, but baseball is INFUSED in that story. I had to google the difference between the National League and the American League and whether pitching every fifth game was a sign of a good or a bad pitcher. Nothing was explained at all! Other than the fact hat I don't know anything about American baseball, I'm enjoying it so far.
Today's fandom wank on my twt feed seems to be centred around people complaining about the covers of the new mxtx books. Or rather, complaining to the publisher? It's a bit late to be complaining to the publisher probably and frankly probably a bit rude, and then the divide seems to be that the books are being marketed like a Japanese light novel, so soft illustrated (anime style) cover. A bunch of people are let down by this, including me, so I've cancelled my pre order. I don't like the cover at all, and even if the words inside are the same, these have to sit on my shelves.
I don't really appreciate the insinuation from some people that I should be grateful we're getting books at all?
Anyway, when they come out, if they're any good, I'll buy them as e-books.
