Talk about Game of Thrones.
I just want to talk about the hate everyone has for various characters. I always found it interesting in Game of Thrones that all the characters have flaws and everyone has their motivations. So I understand that there is reason to hate *any* of the characters, but I really think that all the characters can be defended.
It really upsets me however, when people hate Sansa. I get that people think she's hella annoying and vapid and shallow. But those aren't reasons for being glad that she's getting her 'just desserts' now.
The girl is 13. Her mother's coddled her her whole life and she's been brought up on fairytales. Her father is a strong noble person who is hell bent on honour. I bet all the men in her family are all about honour. Someone's told her she can be a QUEEN, just like in the STORIES. Her sister Arya, well, she just gets in the way and ruins everything.
Sansa didn't know that omitting the truth about Arya and Joffrey would kill her direwolf. Or the butchers boy. And even then, it's still easier to blame Arya, the person who is always wrong, than it is to blame THE QUEEN and OMGJOFFREY.
Sansa's whole worldview has just been smashed, I don't understand how she's not just whimpering in a corner and traumatised for life. Her shining prince KILLED HER FATHER (AFTER SAYING HE'D BE MERCIFUL) and is getting his guards to beat her up.
I haven't read the books, but I bet he'll rape her and spit on her and do all sorts of sociopathic things. How is that justice for being a 13 year old naive girl?
I also hate it when people hate Catelyn - she's done some stupid things too, BUT SO HAVE THEY ALL. She's just being a mum. Ditto Cersei - though she's a bit powerhungry and blind to her son's shortcomings.
I hope the boy that plays Joffrey's next role involves him saving puppies, discovering the cure for cancer and volunteering at an old folk's home. Otherwise people are just going to slap him whenever they see him in the street.
