Jul. 16th, 2011 12:01 amLiam and I are massively losing the photo competition - I can't even bear to look at the competitors anymore, I think they've all got 6-7 times as many votes as Liam, and Liam has tons!
I will do another round of pimping closer to the closing date. People have been mentioning that I'm turning into a 'showbiz' mum and they can't believe that I'd do that, and it's bugging me somewhat, so I'm trying to keep quiet.
One lady posted up a photo of her 9 year old daughter - her daughter wasn't mainstream model material - she was chubby (okay, quite fat) with curly hair and was a bit squinty, truth be told, but she looked very happy and her mum was proud of her - THE WHOLE POINT OF THE COMPETITION, RIGHT? It's just all these parents saying 'omg children are so cute!,' Right? People wrote such nasty comments that the photo had to be taken down.
WHO WRITES NASTY COMMENTS ABOUT A 9 YEAR OLD GIRL? WHO? What kind of sick deranged shitturd of a human being would you have to be to write nasty things about a little girl's appearance? Hiding behind the Internet. OH IT MAKES ME SO MAD.
Anyway - I looked at the kids that were winning - super cute kids :) and wondering how they were getting 200+ votes in the same few hours that Liam was getting 40-odd, so I looked at their mother's Facebook pages and there's a whole modelling *culture* that I didn't anticipate! These kids have beauty pageant/model mothers, who have beauty pageant/model friends, who spend their entire time looking at photos and taking photos and telling each other how 'GAWJUS DAAAAAAHLING xoxox' they are, let alone their kids!
So yeah, I don't think I can contend.
I *might* sign up Liam anyway, even if he doesn't win, because it's only $200, and the photoshoots are only $100, and I was going to get professional photos done of him anyway, just for me.
In other news, I have had the WORST time in the kitchen this week. Not only did I spill the hot deep fryer oil everywhere, and break my crockpot (I bought a new one), I also managed set my oven on fire by putting baking paper too close to the grill and ruining Liam's dinner.
GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN TINA.
(Cadel Evans is doing great this year in the Tour De France - I feel like I say this every year - I stay up til 2am for 3 weeks watching him race, only to watch him come second for the past 3-4 years. I actually told Adam there was no way in hell I would watch ANY of this year's Tour because I am always so disappointed, but he seems to have a good team for a change, and his rivals aren't doing great, so maaaaaaaaaaybe)
