Jun. 16th, 2011 09:28 pmLiam's becoming much more mobile. He can't crawl yet, but yesterday I went to check on the laundry and he had managed to maneuver himself halfway across the living room, spin 180 degrees and trash my DVD collection.
I've put away his play mat now - it wasn't very big and it seems silly to think he will now be contained on it.
I spent today CLEANING ALL THINGS because of Liam's newfound mobility. He's amazing at finding fluff on the ground and sticking it in his mouth. Or beelining to the bin. My TV etc is now cordoned off using playpen pieces. I didn't want to use the playpen to fence him in, so I've now fenced in things I don't want him to touch.
I also managed to cook a batch of scones today - I forgot how ridiculously easy they were to make. I even whipped cream! Growing up in my household, certain things were rare that would be commonplace in a non-Immigrant household. For example, scones. I only got to eat them when we had our day trips to the Royal Botanical Gardens - I got to feed the swans, then eat a Devonshire Tea. We used to go about once a year. Greatest ever. Then I grew up and could not believe that you could eat scones just whenever!
A couple of years back I went round to my In Laws for family dinner and one of Adam's aunts brought pumpkin scones. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF PUMPKIN SCONES. I was all 'omg, this is two of my favourite things, TOGETHER. WHO KNEW IT WAS POSSIBLE' His aunt thought I was making fun of her. I really wasn't. I ate most of them. I think I also had a roast for the first time that night too.
Adam's ex visited from Sydney last night. She brought her dog (Adam bought her this dog) and Liam loved her :) Lucy is a fox terrier cross chihuahua and is extremely good at playing games. She kept bringing things for Liam to play fetch, but Liam couldn't play, so Adam would throw the toy, Lucy would bring it back, leave it for Liam while Liam tried to pet her. He never managed, Lucy was too quick. Lucy didn't always understand why Liam wasn't throwing her toy though. She kept putting it closer and closer to him, and on his lap and looking at the toy, then at Liam, at the toy then at Liam, like 'hey boy, the toy's right there. Are you stupid?' then she would go get another toy because she assumed that Liam didn't want that particular one.
We had pizza last night, made in our outdoor woodfire pizza oven. Adam built one while he's currently between jobs. Hopefully it will add value to our home, so he wasn't just sitting around idle the entire time.
Liam's been waking up every hour again and waking up every 5-10 minutes between the hours of 11pm and 12:30am. He cannot possibly be hungry because he does it even if I feed him at 9. I don't understand what it is. It's breaking my spirit. I think it's part separation anxiety, because he will scream hysterically even if Adam's picked him up and comforting him, yet quieten as soon as I hold him. I don't know :(
I've inherited my brother's old iPhone. My contract doesn't end til the end of the year, so I was stuck with my non-Smartphone til then. I have been downloading ALL OF THE APPS and playing Words With Friends like a fiend. I'm not very good at it and keep losing.
It's not a great phone though, to be honest. It keeps not doing things I want it to do. My Sony Ericsson k800i did everything I wanted, it's just outdated. Like, I need to be able to group some of my contacts, so I can mass SMS people. Like, my family, or my mother's group. I need to rotate photos so I can have them the right way up for my wallpaper! I need to be able to get to 'new message' with only one button. I DON'T WANT TO DOWNLOAD APPS FOR THESE THINGS.
