Things that shouldn't still be happening in 2013:

I should be able to be the same person on all social media platforms. I am so jealous of people who seem to be able to post about the same things on Facebook as well as LJ/Tumblr/Twitter. I'm forever censoring myself.

Not entirely unrelated: I had a discussion about docking (yes, the sexual act) with Adam and his mates yesterday afternoon. I didn't know that I knew anything about it until I did, and Adam's friends are used to me enough that they didn't really raise an eyebrow over my knowledge. So there's that.

Oh I definitely don't post the same things on facebook as I do on other sites (I mean my mom and my grandma are friends w/ my on facebook so I defintiely have to censor things there), and even between lj and twitter/tumblr I post different things because I have a few real life people that follow me on twitter so there are some things I feel weird saying there...

I just feel like that there are so many really 'together' people who just don't give a damn about what the real life people think about them!

I really wish you could be, too. I mean, I'd never post EXACTLY the same stuff on Facebook as tumblr, because... that would be far too much Facebooking xD But for the most part I feel like I can post ridiculous videos and stupid status updates and not be judged. Mind you I also hate almost everyone and keep my Facebook friends limited to people I *actually know* or at least was once close with.

Also one time our friend used to stay at our house during the week and he left his computer unlocked and we googled a bunch of docking pics and set one as his desktop wallpaper. It was good times.

You know, that might be the problem, I might have too many facebook friends and people I feel like I have to keep up appearances with.

Yeah, the docking came up because one of Adam's mates was trying to gross him out with photos, and he was all, ' Guys, I'm married to Tina.' hahaha

I don't say the same kind of things on various social platforms and personally I am okay with it. Every social media site I use has it's own uses and it's own crowd and I think that is just fine.

I had to google what docking meant just now. I had no idea! Haha.

No, I don't really mean about the same sorts of things like - Sherlock fanart can probably be left to Tumblr. But the fact that I am drowning in Sherlock ~feels~ and can think of nothing but? I feel sometimes that merits a FB status but it feels weird to me.

I've been led to believe that the people of your ilk practice this docking business ALL THE TIME. LIKE, 24/7. FLAT OUT. :p

Haha! As an American I was cut at birth, I guess my boy still has his but maybe it's not super stretchy? But then again I've never tried to do such or thing or even thought about the possibility of doing it before today, so I don't really know!

Haha no, the docking thing is definitely a kink thing that takes some stretching. Adam's friends were trying to work out how it was possible while erect, and they came to the conclusion that it was only possible to the layperson maybe if un-erect, therefore only between straight guys, therefore negating the entire point of the exercise.

I am not openly bi on my facebook page and I try not to be so atheist to avoid confrontations with my religious friends and my dad. (of course, they do not share the same courtesy with me.. BIGOTS!!)

The thing about being 'atheist' is there's nothing to 'believe in'. So when you post about it, it always sounds like you're bringing someone else down for their beliefs.

Do you wish you could be openly bi on your FB page? Is it a homophobia thing or a married thing do you think? Like, would it be easier for you to be open about it if you were single?

I guess it could be seen that way. There are an awful lot of inspirational non-religious pictures involving Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrass Tyson that are wonderful to look at and read that don't bring anyone down necessarily. The people I am referring to though *would* be offended by something that says that the universe is beautiful enough in itself you don't need to insert god to enjoy it.. OR they would insert god into it in their comment to me. There are also an awful lot of anti-gay and anti-abortion pics out there that have been posted and shared and are so offensive and definitely put others down. I am just easily riled up I guess. I got so tired of seeing all the god stuff on my feed that I de-friended half of my "friends"* about 6 months ago.

*mostly old acquaintances I knew from church as a child and teen

About the bisexual thing I am mostly worried about the flak I will get from my dad and his wife. 1) it is none of their business who I find sexually attractive, and 2) I honestly do care what he thinks about me, and I am really tired of him thinking I am going to snap out of my atheism, I don't want to give him more ammo to judge me with. Most of the people who I want to know about my sexuality already know because I have told them.

wow.. I just unloaded a lot on you.. sorry. I *really* don't want to offend people and put down religious people.. I know a lot of it is built on community and traditions. Most people are not pious or severe in their study, most people are casual and want a connection and something to build friendships around. I don't think I am better than religious people or smarter or cleverer. Most of my aggression is toward my dad and his wife because those are the "loudest" people I hear and I can't stop following them because that would be rude and I don't want them to stop following me.

I censor myself on FaceBook because that's where I connect with a lot of my family. But on LJ, twitter, and tumblr I'm mostly anonymous.

Have no idea what docking is.

Yeah, you don't need to know what docking is. It's a gay sexual act that doesn't come up even in fanfic very often (okay I think I've read like *one* thing it's ever come up in)

There are certain aspects of my life that I've never felt all that comfortable sharing with some of my family. I like being able to go to my LJ and other places and feel free to say anything I want. Like if I want to cry over the death of a fictional character or squee over two dudes making out I can't really do that on Facebook because a lot of my family wouldn't get.

Now I feel ripped off.

Also, I censor myself on facebook because I know people there whereas twitter is a free for all and people follow me who like my tweets and then I meet them.

I had to google docking. Ouch.
And I always censor what I say on different forums. It gets tiring, i know. But I see it has you want to have a little bit of yourself just for you. Right?
