back to journalling
I spent a while yesterday going back through my LJ twenty years ago trying to pinpoint the moment I met Sally in person, and although my LJ was totally cringe 20 years ago, it was nice to be reminded of things I hadcompletely forgotten, so I thought I would revive my DW and just use it as a boring journal type thing.
World News:
Gladys Berejiklian, premier of NSW resigned today, because of some investigation into corruption. She's my least favourite politician because of how she handled NSW's covid response so I'm glad she's gone, though I'm not too fond of the people waiting in the wings. Twitter jokes about auspol when big things happen continues to be the funniest though.
They're also going to open the borders for Australians to be able to travel in November. I think my parents are going to be on the first planes out depending on whether Vietnam will allow them in. My grandma and two of my uncles have passed away in the past 18 months and my mum's just about had it, I think. Vietnam's been slow to start their vax program, but everyone in Vietnam will get vaxxed, I think the supplies are pouring in now.
Fam News:
Tim sent the boys *two* Oculus Quest 2 yesterday, how crazy. I started playing Beat Saber and now my body hurts. I wonder if I have the patience to actually get good at the game, it looks like a case of practising to learn the moves off by heart. I bought the BTS music pack, it's pretty fun. Took me ages to work out that I had to actually do the dance moves to Mic Drop chorus to hit all the right blocks lol
Adam's been playing some boxing game and he's exhausted. He's always so competitive, and now his arms don't work. I don't know why the my very first reaction to 'oh Adam's sore and can't move' is 'oh now I can beat him up' instead of 'oh poor guy I'm going to look after him'. I can't stop laughing about how much I just want to punch him or tickle him or harass him. Power swap I guess.
I bought three tickets to Cursed Child today, they were $350 each! *weeps* I don't need to see it a third time but the boys have decided to get into Harry Potter. I think I'll have to give the tickets as Christmas presents, it's a ridiculous amount of money.
Health News:
I'm on week 3 of my six weeks of UVB treatment for my psoriasis before they can put me on biologics. My skin continues to be really really crap and I really want it to clear up before Summer so I can stop looking like I shop at the religious modest shops.
Life News:
I'm trying to be optimistic about post covid life, so I've booked a little weekend at Phillip Island to see the penguins in mid january, hopefully there won't be international tourists. My house is coming together, so hopefully 2022 WILL BE THE YEAR I GET TO LIVE MY LIFE A BIT.
Fandom News:
I cancelled my pre-orders for the first book of all three mxtx books. I was so excited that they were being released and I really do want mxtx to get some money, but I'm really not a fan how they've used the fan translator to do the translation, and a bunch of fanartists for the cover etc. I want them to look like.. proper books, and I'm not sure if I mean *western* books. I can always buy the e-books later I suppose. I almost always regret buying fan merch etc when I get over things. I've really trying to be very good about it. Only buying enamel pins etc. I went a little bit nuts for the Untamed and now I have so much useless stuff. What am I going to do with a full set of the lipsticks!!
I want to give into the fact that I do like BTS a hell of a lot, but every time I go near the fandom it's horrific. There's just so much... content, and I'm so prone to the parasocial relationship (lol Sally hates that word so much) that being a huge fan of any kpop group or any youtuber etc is dangerous for me.
All I really want is a weekly tv show that has supernatural elements and a huge fandom. I feel like my fandom life is just in a holding pattern waiting for that, between the x files, merlin, teen wolf. I liked Harry Potter, I guess that had the movies to assist with the visual portion.
