I've played two games and scored 258 on my second game. I don't intend to play any more games. I'll outline my strategy.
Rotate the tile only in one direction, doing a full rotation. Eliminate any options that lead to a dead end (end the game).
Count the dead end line segments for each option. If two dead ends close off count it as zero, if it creates a new dead end with no adjacent tiles count it as one, and for each other unfinished dead end affected by the tile count its length. Add up the total for each option and typically go for the lowest number.
When working towards one of the six initial corners or any other corners created bias more openings for these positions.
Tend to create openings that lead across tiles as you don't always get loops (rarely any decision left by this stage).
Ultimately it comes down to chance as even with a strong strategy you don't know what tile you'll get.
