Does anyone know of the legalities surrounding the whole Megaupload takedown? I'm just interested in what happens to those users who were using the service for legitimate reasons.

I've seen people talk about this just being a death of a service like the deaths of Napster/Kazaa/Limewire, but those services didn't store anyone's information.

I'm trying to think of a real world analogy for this, but am coming up short. It's kinda like you get your bank to keep your money for you, (which then gets shut down and you lose all your money wtf) but a bank doesn't allow others to also take copies of your money.

Is it like the police taking your stuff as 'evidence'?

Anyway, there must be some sort of recourse. People use the service as personal storage too, and it would be too too bad if all that stuff got destroyed.
